Lunchtime Organ Music concerts
Leeds Lunchtime Organ Music series, Mondays at 1.15pm from September to April, is hosted by Leeds Cathedral during Leeds Town Hall’s refurbishment. All recitals are recorded live in concert. Once posted online, recordings remain available to watch on our website and YouTube channel for 30 days unless otherwise requested. Find out how you can support our free lunchtime concerts.

David Greed – violin
Darius Battiwalla – Leeds City Organist
Following the death of Simon Lindley (City Organist 1976-2016) violinist David Greed joined Darius in an amended programme to celebrate the contribution Simon made to the musical life of the city, in particular the Lunchtime Organ recitals. David frequently performed with Simon in the Leeds Town Hall Lunchtime Organ concerts, a particular favourite being Fritz Kreisler’s Praeludium and Allegro.

Rachel Mahon, Director of Music, Coventry Cathedral
Originally from Toronto, Canada, Rachel Mahon was the first female organist at St Paul’s Cathedral and is now Director of Music at Coventry Cathedral. She has recorded and broadcast frequently in both Canada and the UK and has given recitals all over Europe.

Darius Battiwalla, Leeds City Organist
Celebrating International Women’s Day, Darius’ programme features five women composers alongside JS Bach and Marcel Dupré. Dupré’s Suite Bretonne gives a calm few moments in the centre of the programme, which concludes with a return to energetic pieces by Kristina Arakelyan and Rachel Laurin.

Tom Winpenny, Assistant Master of Music, St Albans Cathedral
Tom Winpenny has recently given recitals in Vienna, Reykjavík, and San Francisco, and won both first prize and audience prize at the Miami Organ Competition. He is also a prolific recording artist, winning awards for his recent Olivier Messiaen recordings.

D’Arcy Trinkwon has given recitals and premieres all over the world and has a huge range of repertoire – as did this livestreamed recital; including works by Charles Marie Widor, Johann Christian Heinrich Rinck, Georges Jacob, Dezso d’Antallfy and Paul Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
