Each year we invite guest Artistic Directors to curate the six concerts in the Leeds International Chamber Series.
Our Artistic Director alumni includes violinist Jonian Ilias Kadesha, flautist Adam Walker, Kaleidoscope Chamber Ensemble, harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani, cellist David Waterman, pianist Sam Haywood, pianist Kathryn Stott and The Gould Piano Trio. The series takes place on Tuesday evenings at Leeds Conservatoire.
The Artistic Director for the 2025/26 season is pianist Junyan Chen and her season is titled Route/Root.
From her first visit to Leeds for the 2024 Leeds International Piano Competition to now returning as curator of the 2025/26 Leeds International Chamber Series, Junyan Chen’s journey has come full circle. This season, titled Route/Root, invites you to explore identity through sound, tracing the paths we travel, the cultures that shape us and the places we call home.
Junyan has selected six deeply personal and eclectic programmes, featuring ensembles that blend Baroque with Nordic folk, French modernism with contemporary spirituality, and much more. Each concert is a reflection of movement and stillness, transformation and belonging, brought to life by extraordinary musicians.
