Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons is unmistakeably the composer’s most famous work - and the most recorded piece of classical music of all time. A bravura showpiece for its violin soloist; the concertos are one of the most dazzling examples of musical scene-painting.
The Concerto for two oboes and two clarinets features unusual instrumentation for the period in which it was written, being one of the earliest pieces of baroque repertoire to feature the clarinet. Throughout the work, Vivaldi, master of the concerto form, plays the woodwind instruments off against each other as they weave melodious lines over the infectious accompaniment.
‘Probably Britain’s most adventurous orchestra’ (The Times), the Manchester Camerata perform an evening of music by Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky.
