Rothwell Temperance Band are currently Leeds’ highest ranked brass band. With a band entirely comprising of volunteers, they have cemented themselves as one of the finest bands in the competitive county of Yorkshire, and England as a whole. The current band, formed in the 1980s, has risen through the sections under the tutelage of experienced MD, Dave Roberts. 2022 has been a very successful year for the band, qualifying for the National Championships of Great Britain, held at the Royal Albert Hall, for the first time in 10 years following an impressive 3rd place finish at the Yorkshire Area. And, most recently, winning the Grand Shield for the 3rd time. This means that the band will return to the British Open, reaffirming the band’s status amongst the elite of brass banding.
