Dominic Moore began learning the violin with Pamela Spofforth at the age of 8. He later won scholarships to Winchester College and the Royal College of Music studying the violin with Itzhak Rashkovsky, and also the piano as a joint first study with Peter Element. From the ages of 8-18 he also attended Pro Corda (procorda.com), Europe’s leading chamber music school, where he is now director of their Senior and Violin courses.

Dominic is the leader and musical director of St George’s Chamber Orchestra and the leader of Buckingham based Alina orchestra. He was previously acting leader of the orchestra for the West End production of Phantom of the Opera.  He has appeared as leader with the Ulster Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Bournemouth Symphony, Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Presteigne Festival Orchestra, and Birmingham Royal Ballet. Dominic has recorded many soundtracks for film and TV, including The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Dr Who, Miss Marple, Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife and Poldark.

Dominic co-founded the St. George’s Chamber Orchestra, based in Beckenham, in 2004 and has been their musical director since 2008. As well as directing and leading the orchestra he frequently appears as soloist. Solo performances have included the Beethoven violin concerto, Mozart’s A major concerto and the Sinfonia Concertante with the LSO’s principal viola Edward Vanderspar.

Dominic is immensely grateful to the Countess of Munster, Abbado and Ian Fleming Trusts and the Musicians Loan Fund for help with acquiring an extremely rare Spanish violin by Marianus Ortega. This violin is featured in a book on Spanish instruments ‘The Golden Age of Violin Making in Spain’ and is believed to be one of only two surviving examples of the maker’s work.

Andrew Quartermain is CEO and Artistic Director of Pro Corda Trust, one of the largest music charities and course providers in Europe. Pro Corda is the leading provider for chamber music education in the UK and, since 2006, Andrew has overseen an expansion that has quadrupled the organisation’s size and introduced a number of new nationally leading education programmes, together with the fundraising for them – including Pro Corda’s flagship series for children with disabilities which he founded (now the leading provider of its kind for Special Educational Needs schools in UK.)

As a pianist, Andrew has collaborated with some of the world’s leading artists and was a prize winner at the Guildhall where he studied after Cambridge. His work as a teacher takes in a rare spectrum of areas and focus that stretches from coaching some of the UK’s most gifted instrumentalists to specialist work for children with autism (where Andrew has written and launched a number of innovative education programmes and publications) through to an international Piano Film series for Adult Learners.

Andrew has composed a number of works, including music theatre and a new version of “Scrooge!” for schools. He regularly appears on a wide variety of media from TV to radio, is a regular contributor to BBC Children in Need, and adjudicates at Festivals and competitions throughout the country.
