“Her technical prowess and ability to negotiate Liszt’s showy grandeur is a given, but her sense of his inner world… sets her apart”. The Observer

The young Georgian pianist Mariam Batsashvili has made a speciality of the music of Liszt since winning the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht in 2014. She has since appeared worldwide, and as a BBC New Generation Artist extensively across the UK, performing with all the BBC orchestras. Her debut album for Warner Classics of Chopin and Liszt was received to great acclaim, and her programme for her Leeds debut plays to her considerable strengths.
