Liam Byrne – Reconstructing Resonances

The sound of the 17th-century viola da gamba is enchanting enough by itself, but Liam Byrne makes it truly magical in this programme of very old and very new music for viol and live electronics. The concert includes favourite baroque pieces from composers like Marin Marais, St Colombe, and Abel before new works by Nico Muhly, Edmund Finnis, and Alex Mills from Byrne’s celebrated 2019 album Concrete bring the sound work bang up to date in immersive surround sound.

This concert will finish at approximately 9.15pm and won’t have an interval.
