A sumptuous string programme to finish our season, featuring an all-star Kaleidoscope team. Beethoven’s String Quintet, surprisingly his only full-scale work in the genre, finds its composer in relaxed and sunny mood. After a few surprise extras chosen by the musicians, our season’s journey culminates in the sextet version of Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht, a work filled with late-romantic passions and one of the eternal glories of the chamber music repertoire.
