Pre-concert talk at 6.45pm.

We’re delighted to welcome the CBSO’s recently announced Chief Conductor to conduct this delightful concert beginning with the hauntingly beautiful opening to Verdi’s La Traviata. Schubert’s fifth symphony has a distinctly Mozartian flavour to it; an entry from Schubert’s diary demonstrates the place Mozart held in his affections: “As from afar the magic notes of Mozart’s music still gently haunt me…They show us in the darkness of this life a bright, clear, lovely distance, for which we hope with confidence”.
