In order to stay at home as much as possible and to control the virus and save lives; our concerts have been cancelled through to the end of July, as well as the remainder of the Summer Bands in Leeds Parks 2020 series. This enables us to protect the safety and well-being of our audiences and staff as we manage the ongoing impact of COVID-19 in Leeds.

Support Leeds Town Hall

The loss of ticket sales for cancelled events during these unprecedented times is of great concern, particularly as we look to the future and the redevelopment plans for Leeds Town Hall. With this in mind, we ask if you would consider making a donation to help sustain Leeds Town Hall – perhaps the most iconic and best loved building in the city, and one of such historic value to the people of Leeds and beyond. If preferred, ticket holders can choose to add credit to their account to use on a future performance. Refunds (minus the booking fee) are also available.

If you have bought tickets to any of our events a member of our Box Office team will be in touch with you shortly. If you have any queries please contact: and allow our team to either respond via email or call you back. If that’s not possible, please call the team on 0113 376 0318 (Mon-Fri between 10am and 4pm). There may be a short wait as our Box Office team are now working remotely. Voicemail messages will be collected on a regular basis and someone will get back to you at the earliest opportunity. Please be assured that you will be contacted either by email, telephone or post. We won’t forget you.

Until it is safe to welcome audiences back to our events we’ll continue to share content on our website and social media channels, where we’ll also keep you informed of any changes and their implications as soon as we can.

Thank you so much for your understanding and continued support during these difficult times. Keep safe and well.

With kind regards
Leeds Arts Events & Venues Team

After forty-one years as a string quartet (three of us from the outset, and Ralph, the new boy, in his thirty-fourth year as an Endellion), we have decided that the time has come to hang up our collective quartet bows in the summer of 2020. So this season will be our final series at The Venue where we have performed over seventy concerts. Before we found our Leeds home here we had played many times at other Leeds venues and we are immensely grateful to you, the audience, for supporting us so warmly and loyally over such a long period. And we are equally grateful to Matthew Sims and Katie Pearce of Leeds International Concert Season for offering us so many opportunities to play for Leeds audiences.

Formed in 1979, the Endellion String Quartet is renowned as one of the finest quartets in the world.  Over the years, its schedule has included regular tours of North and South America and concerts in Australasia, the Far East, the Middle East, South Africa and every West European country. Everywhere, the Endellion String Quartet ‘sets the audience ablaze’ (Daily Telegraph) and ‘captivates concertgoers with a remarkable rapport, playing to each other with a sense almost of discovery, communicating to the audience on a level of unusual intimacy’ (The Guardian).

In Britain, the Endellion String Quartet has appeared at nearly all of the major series and festivals and is regularly broadcast on BBC radio and television. In 1996 the quartet was winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Best Chamber Ensemble. Its various recordings have been named Chamber Music Recording of the Year by both the Daily Telegraph and The Guardian, Radio 3’s Critics’ Choice and Editor’s Choice at the Gramophone Awards.

The Endellion String Quartet has been Quartet in Residence at Cambridge University since 1992 and has undertaken three short-term residencies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA. Since 2001 it has been Associate Quartet of the Royal Northern College of Music and in 2003 began its Residency here at The Venue, Leeds.

  • “The Endellion is arguably the finest quartet in Britain, playing with poise, true intonation, excellent balance and a beautiful tone. In music of the Viennese Classical composers it has few challengers but it has won praise in a wide repertory, its Beethoven and Bartók cycles being especially admired.”
The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (2000)
