Approximately 50 minutes without interval

Starting out as a clarinettist in the West of England Youth Orchestra, conducted by Timothy Redmond, Laurel Saunders was inspired to continue music tuition and began attending the Royal Northern College of Music which she has recently graduated from. Her teachers have included names such as Nicholas Cox, Victoria Soames-Samek, Gabor Varga and Antonio Salguero-Montesinos.

Whilst at the RNCM she has performed with groups such as the Manchester Video Game Orchestra, Manchester Young Sinfonia, The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Scotland and RNCM’s ARK ensemble as well as playing in the pit for the Die Fledermaus opera last December. She also has a passion for working with composers, resulting in collaborative contemporary premieres of works by Aaron Breeze, Zakiya Leeming and Meriel Price. Laurel participated in a diverse selection of performances ranging from charity and retirement home concerts with solo and ensemble playing.

Welsh harpist Angharad Huw is currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music, under the tutelage of Anne-Marie O’Farrell. She started to play the harp when she was nine years old under Ceinwen Roberts’s tuition. In 2017, she began studying with Eira Lynn Jones at Junior RNCM, where she was awarded the Rotary Prize for Performance and the John Ellis Memorial Prize during her two years of study.

During her time at the RNCM, Angharad has performed with the RNCM Symphony, Opera, Wind, and Brand New Orchestras, and established the Tegid Duo with harpist Jess Hughes, and the Eos Duo with clarinettist Laurel Saunders. She is due to perform with the RNCM Harp Ensemble at the World Harp Congress in Cardiff.

Over the past few years, Angharad has performed in numerous concerts across North Wales, Cheshire, Merseyside, and Greater Manchester as a soloist, ensemble player, and orchestral musician. She has performed in both Edinburgh and Wales International Harp Festivals, and was awarded second place in the Urdd National Eisteddfod and the National Eisteddfod of Wales.

Eos Duo appears by kind permission of the RNCM.
