Victoria Hall, Leeds Town Hall
Orchestra of Opera North
George Jackson - conductor
Pui Fan Lee - narrator
Prokofiev’s charming tale, Peter and the Wolf, is narrated by Pui Fan Lee (former Teletubby and CBeebies star) and accompanied by stunning illustrations on the big screen.
Raymond Briggs’ classic, The Snowman, with Howard Blake’s much-loved music remains the soundtrack to every child’s dream Christmas. Now’s your chance to experience the iconic score performed live by a full symphony orchestra, and the unforgettable Walking in the Air, here sung live by a member of Opera North’s Youth Company.
The 2.30pm showing is a relaxed performance and will have no interval.
Relaxed Performance (RP): Relaxed Performances allow members of the audience to move around freely, leave or enter the auditorium as needed, lights never go completely dark and sound effects are softened. These performances are open to all and are designed to welcome people with an autistic spectrum condition, learning disability, dementia or sensory and communication disorder.

The relaxed performance of Peter and the Wolf & The Snowman allows members of the audience to move around freely, leave or enter the auditorium as needed, lights never go completely dark and sound effects are softened. There’s also a quiet room (the Corson Room) away from the auditorium for anyone who may like to make use of at any time.
For the 2.30pm performance, the building opens at 1.30pm, the auditorium itself opens around 2pm and the performance lasts a little over 1 hour.
We are offering live audio description for The Snowman. Audio description is where customers who are blind or partially sighted can listen to a live description of what’s happening on stage visually, in order for them to fully enjoy live performance.
This will be available via the MobileConnect app on your phone (in the app store). Simply download the Sennheiser MobileConnect app before coming to the performance, and then find the MobileConnect wifi network as you enter the auditorium, and click on ‘Audio Description’. Ask any member of the front of house staff for help if you require it. Please remember to bring your headphones!
1. To download the app, find the Sennheiser MobileConnect app in your app store – it has a black S shape in a white rectangle – and download.
2. As you walk into the auditorium, put your phone into aeroplane mode, and go to the app. If you have an iPhone, you might be already logged on. If not, go to settings and browse for the MobileConnect wifi and click onto it. Then in the app, click on 'audio description'.
3. You can alter the sound by moving the blue circle with the ear on it around until you find a sound you’re happy with – this changes the EQ balance and volume levels.
4. You can also put the screen into dark mode which means the background goes black and blue, so there is less light coming from your phone – recommended for theatre settings.
