Wed 25 November
Leeds Town Hall, Leeds Town Hall
Birmingham Conservatoire of Music
Chris Roberts - guitar
Seth Bye - fiddle
What do the middle ages, polyrhythmic interplay, and British folk traditions have in common? They all have a home in the capable hands of Filkin’s Drift. As “exquisite tune playing” and “irresistible grooves” combine, Seth and Chris’ diverse musical influences come together to create a truly unique fiddle and guitar sound.
The duo have been productive during lockdown. Their ‘tune a week’ project has seen them collaborating with musicians from across the globe including Angharad Jenkins (Calan), Dan Walsh, Ruth Keggin, and Ellie Gowers. You can watch the whole 34 weeks here.
As the doors of live music venues creak back open, Filkin’s Drift have been amongst the first to take the stage. Performances at Little… but LIVE, Centrala, and Leeds Town Hall accompanied the release of their eponymously titled debut EP, as well as an outdoor live session with 13-piece band.
The pair are strong believers in music for all. To that end, they are just as at home performing for babies and toddlers, and in hospitals and care homes as they are in public theatres and folk clubs nationwide.
Support the series
We believe that music really is for everyone. To reflect this, our Leeds Lunchtime Organ Music and Leeds Lunchtime Chamber Music series are free to attend. We are always grateful to accept cash donations after each lunchtime concert, which go directly to supporting these series. However, if you would prefer to donate online you can do so at any time here.
Admission is free.
Due to limited capacity and current social distancing measures, advance booking is required. We regret that booking tickets on the door is not currently an option.
