Sun 16 June , 2.30-4.30pm
, Alwoodley Village Green
Join Altofts and Normanton Brass Band at Alwoodley Village Green for a free concert of brass band favourites from 2.30pm-4.30pm.
Altofts and Normanton Brass Band was founded in the 1880s by a small group of mine workers at the local privately owned colliery; Pope and Pearson, where it used the First Aid Room for its band practice sessions. Over recent years the band has performed for several charitable causes (including Age Concern, Cancer Research UK and, more locally, The Alice Bacon Trust) raising over £3000 to date, with more charity events organised for the coming year. This is the band's contribution back to the community.
Dig out your picnic rugs and take to the great outdoors for your weekly dose of music al fresco.
